# DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 is now available on BetterToken

**DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017** is the October 17 update to V4.1 Flash. DeepSeek reports stronger coding and agent performance, faster task completion, and shorter outputs. It is suited to repository changes, debugging, and building projects from a specification.

## What changed

* **Project development**: DeepSeek used reinforcement learning with self-feedback to improve end-to-end development, with official examples covering games and 3D projects.
* **Task efficiency**: DeepSeek reports shorter task runtimes and outputs than the previous version. Compare quality, elapsed time, and token usage on your own coding tasks.
* **Long context and vision**: DeepSeek lists a 1M-token context window, up to 384K output tokens, and visual understanding. Effective limits depend on the client and API path.

## Connect it

1. <a href={"https://bettertoken.ai/register"}>Create a BetterToken API Key</a> or use an existing key.
2. In an OpenAI-compatible client, set Base URL to `https://bettertoken.ai/v1` and Model ID to `deepseek-v4.1-flash-1017`.
3. For Claude Code or an Anthropic-protocol client, use Base URL `https://bettertoken.ai` and the same Model ID.
4. Test a representative task before switching an existing workflow.

DeepSeek's own API uses the alias `deepseek-flash` for the 1017 version. When following its examples through BetterToken, use the Model ID above and BetterToken's Base URL.
