# Claude Haiku 5.5 is now available on BetterToken

> Claude Haiku 5.5 is available on BetterToken as claude-haiku-5-5 for classification, extraction, summaries, and subagents. See capabilities and setup steps.

Updated: October 10, 2026

**Claude Haiku 5.5** is Anthropic's new Haiku model for frequent requests that need quick responses. Use it for classification, extraction, summaries, customer support, and focused subagent tasks within coding workflows. Anthropic recommends Sonnet 5.5 or Opus 5.5 for complex, long-running agentic coding.

BetterToken now offers the Model ID `claude-haiku-5-5`. Check the <a href={"https://bettertoken.ai/pricing"}>model plaza</a> for current availability and pricing.

## Highlights

* **Frequent tasks**: handle repeated requests, document summaries, and narrowly scoped supporting work.
* **Adaptive thinking**: enabled by default; adjust thinking depth with `effort`. The default level is `medium`.
* **Long context and vision**: Anthropic lists a 1M-token context window, up to 128K output tokens, and text and image input with text output.

## Before switching from Haiku 4.5

For direct Messages API calls, review the [official migration guide](https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/models/haiku-5-5/migration-guide). Replace the old `budget_tokens` configuration with adaptive thinking, omit `temperature`, `top_p`, and `top_k`, and remeasure token usage and `max_tokens` limits. The new tokenizer and thinking behavior affect existing token budgets.

## Connect it

1. <a href={"https://bettertoken.ai/register"}>Create a BetterToken API Key</a> or use an existing key.
2. In Claude Code or an Anthropic-protocol client, set the Base URL to `https://bettertoken.ai`.
3. Set the Model ID to `claude-haiku-5-5`, without a date suffix.
4. Test quality, latency, and token usage on a representative task before switching an existing workflow.

Use the [Claude Code setup guide](/en/ai-tools/claude-code) for client configuration or the [model selection guide](/en/faq/model-calling/model-selection-guide) to compare options.
